Police Chief Constable Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, Dutch Police Service, has signed LEAHN’s Statement of Support for Harm Reduction. The Statement was written by police at the inaugural International Police Advisory Group meeting in Melbourne in November 2012 to highlight the important role of police as advocates of harm reduction, especially to other police. Chief Constable Aalbersberg signed the Statement on behalf of Dutch Police Service highlighting the significance of police leadership in addressing issues of drug use and sex work using a public health approach.

Chief Constable Aalbersberg joins more than 5000 police from around the world who have signed the Statement of Support. LEAHN is aiming for 10,000 law enforcement signatures to present the Statement at the International AIDS Conference being held in Melbourne in June 2014.
