I would like to take this opportunity as LEAHN Coordinator to thank everyone connected with LEAHN for making 2014 a very successful year.
There has been a significant amount achieved in the past 12 months, most notably the appointment of Country Focal Points (CFPs) in 16 countries spanning the globe. The work undertaken by LEAHN CFPs is both broad-ranging and ground-breaking. CFPs are in many respects challenging the ‘norms’ of policing, particularly by addressing those policing practices that lead to the marginalisation, discrimination and stigmatisation of people most at risk of HIV infection and other negative health outcomes. My other highlights for this year include the Consultation on HIV and Policing in Amsterdam in October attended by 14 CFPs and LEAHN staff. The other highlight for me was the opportunity I had to visit several CFPs in their home countries. While I don’t want to single out any particular CFPs, I do want to mention that I very much enjoyed my first visit to Tanzania and Kenya.
Well done everyone on a great year, I am very much looking forward to more success in 2015.
