Law Enforcement and HIV network (LEAHN), Bangladesh organized along with UNAIDS Bangladesh a workshop in sensitizing the law enforcers on HIV/AIDS. This workshop was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 12th `December 2015 Chaired by the country Focal point of LEAHN Ms. Mily Biswas, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Finance), Bangladesh Police HQ.
Approximately 100 women law enforcers of the Bangladesh Police attended the workshop where they learned about the risks of HIV/AIDS and reciprocal duties of police in preventing HIV.
The outcome of the workshop aimed to increase awareness of the focused group of women police and to coordinate accordingly in the days to come to support the rights of HIV infected people and also to prevent the virus spreading to people considered at high risk of infection.
The participants and the resource people from LEAHN and UNAIDS Bangladesh met in an open session to discuss the issues.
LEAHN Focal Point Mily Biswas hoped that this interaction will accelerate the awareness of the risk of HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh and will work in a potential way where Socio Medico and legal factors are involved with it and also the questions of Human Rights are acknowledged and observed.
Finally, Deputy Inspector General thanked the guests and expressed her commitment to work for sensitizing more law enforcers to combat HIV/AIDS in Bangladesh as a LEAHN Country Focal Point for Bangladesh.
