Vietnam’s drug policies were revised in 2009 although the compulsory detention centres still attract attention for reform.
Dr Hai Thanh Luong, who is an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), writes that:
“Vietnam can learn from Portugal’s successful approach. Vietnam should rethink its strategies, programs and initiatives as they relate to all three pillars of the country’s national action plan, rather than just putting drug users in jail.“
